New Store; Hope By Nen Xavier

October21

Nen Xavier already did have a store with (mostly) Swedish womens- and menswear such as Acne, Camilla Norrback, Cheap Monday and Hope, those labels moved to another adress around the corner. All but one, because the “old” store was transformed to become “the first Hope brand store outside of Scandi”. In my hometown, wihooo, I’m so proud, good job Nen!

NYC/CPH; Henrik Vibskov SS12

August10

New York City, Copenhagen or Paris, designer/artist/musician Henrik Vibskov always surprises the fashion crowd with his art installations and fashion. While in New York I visited his supercool shop in SoHo where you can also find accessories and lines from designers like Cosmic Wonder, Stine Goya and SNS Herning.

NYC/RTM; Organic Food

July28

It’s absolutely bollocks to say eating organic food is trendy or fashion, but we can’t deny the fact more and more people are aware of what they actually put into their bodies. You see various green concepts appear in the big cities of the world. The big question is why organic food is still treated in a way it is special instead of normal?
New Yorkers have Whole Foods, a fantastic concept of organic shopping, the gigantic Columbus store is my number one tip for groceries or to buy a healthy pick-up lunch to eat at nearby Central Park. One of the things I thought I would really miss back home. But no, just recently EkoPlaza opened in Rotterdam, so we now have our own green supermarket, unfortunately it’s not that close to Zochers Park. How you add Fair Trade and organic food into your diet is totally up to you, but you can start applying greener eating habits by only eating seasonal products produced locally. Take a look at both websites for (veggie) summer recipes, yummie!

Testino Todo O Nada

July20

If Italy is your Holiday destination and you’re happen to be in the neighbourhood of Rome, I really recommend a visit to the Mario Testino exhibition “Todo o Nada”. The exhibition brings together 54 photographs that reveal the two opposing concepts to be found in Testino’s work, fashion and the nude. These concepts are present both in his better known activities as a fashion photographer, as well as in his more personal creations, including a number of unpublished photographs specially taken for this collection of work. Don’t forget to bring home one (or more!) prints from the souvenir shop, your one and only chance to have a real Testino on your living room wall.
