The most famous doll in the world, Barbie, is celebrating her 50th birthday this year. An American businesswoman, Ruth Handler, is Barbies mother, she came up with the idea of making a doll with a grown up look. Her husband, top manager at Mattel, didn’t thought it would be a succes, but ever since the introduction in 1959 Barbie is sold more than a billion times in 150 countries. The first Barbie with the black and white bathingsuit is a rare collectors item and many fashiondesigners created outfits for her.
