Sinterklaas Piet Paris Style

November30

Dutch fashionistas pay attention, I found the perfect gift for Sinterklaas. If you buy DE tea at C1000 this week (may I recommend Chai), you’ll get the book Sinterklaasje, Bonne Bonne Bonnen for free. Okay, what are we supposed to do with a children’s book when we don’t even have kids? Well, it’s drawn by no other than fashion illustrator Piet Paris himself! I don’t think I’ve ever been so excited about the red saint.

Marni For H&M

November29

Oooooh I’m so happy, I’m short of breath, after all the bling bling-fabric hysteria of Lanvin and Versace, H&M announced a collaboration with Marni ! I remember this Spring where I spent hours and hours at Barneys New York looking and drooling at the print dresses and bags from this Italian brand.

Marni’s collection for H&M has all the freedom and experimentation for which the label is renowned, with all-over prints in strong colours all intended to be worn together in layers that both match and clash. For women, the colours are vivid and the prints are bold, be they African inspired or simpler colour blocks. The silhouettes are all Marni staples, with full pleated skirts, dresses, cropped trousers and jacquard knit, and fabrics range from silk to crisp cotton poplin. To finish the complete look the collection also includes jewellery, shoes, bags and scarves. For men, the colours and fabrics are softened for a relaxed take on menswear staples that is truly Marni. The use of print is subtle, often as a lining or as a contrast detail for shirts, the silhouette a modern and relaxed take on masculine classics.

Oh J, now I really can’t wait for Spring, wihooooo!

Hope Woman SS12

November27

What better way to make a winter depression more bearable? A forecast of very cool bright Spring fashion. The beautiful blues in Hope’s Paint It Blue Spring collection bring a very different meaning to winterblues. Be patient, only three more months before we can start wearing those bright blue pants, as it might be too early for the jumpskirt.

Affordable And Stylish; Nowhere

November23

A month ago, Swedish fashion blogger Elin Kling and designer Nhu Duong have launched a new fashion brand called Nowhere. The collection has a minimal approach to wardrobe classics with supercool mens pants, dresses, knits and shirts in black, white, grey and a touch of burgundy. And as of today you can style the outfit with shoes too!
If you love the boyish style of Kling and the work of Vietnamese designer Nhu Duong, who has worked both for Acne and Weekday, the collaboration is a match made in heaven. No excuse for not being stylish, since one, the retail prices for this collection are a recessionista’s dream and two, you don’t have to leave your house since you can order online at Nelly.com.

Baum Und Pferdgarten FW11

October30

Baum und Pferdgarten launches their FW collection Black Bird as a tribute to the bird, the symbol of freedom, balance, perception, and watchfulness. Different interpretations of the bird or feathers are used frequently either in the structure of the fabrics, or as prints and graphics. One of the most eye-catching prints in the collection is a surrealistic illustration, half bird half human, made by the Danish design company All The Way To Paris.
